Bees & Trees
We are often asked about the best ways for people to support or help the bees. Everyone knows there are issues, and many want to help.
“How do we help”. It’s a difficult question to answer completely.
At St Ambrose Cellars and Sleeping Bear Farms, we believe the answer lies with conscious effort to put our environment into your own plans and thoughts. Even a small act like planting a tree can make a difference. If you don’t believe us, just read below.
Trees are the oldest living organisms on Earth. That means they’ve some of them have seen our world evolve. By examining a tree’s rings, they can tell us when natural disasters occurred, the steady rise of temperatures and more. Speaking of climate change, trees are incredibly important to slowing it. A mature tree can absorb up to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year while releasing oxygen back into the air. In Chicago, trees remove over 18,000 tons of pollution every year.
Trees also can help cut down on the cost of energy bills. A good shade tree can cool your home by up to 20 degrees. This can help reduce your bills by almost 25%. Studies have also shown that trees can help reduce noise pollution, relieve stress and increase property value.
Now you might be saying to yourself, “I don’t know how to plant a tree”. Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. Well, our friends over at Treesaregood.org have you covered. Visit Treesaregood.org for all you need to know about planting trees. And you’re in luck because fall is an excellent time to begin planting.
So do the world a favor and give your tree a home. St Ambrose and Sleeping Bear Farms thanks you!
